As Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Kent is focused on making sure ESI has the right organizational structure, processes, and systems in place to support and drive outstanding client results. Dan has played a key role in re-developing and implementing many of the new workflow processes and tools currently in place to facilitate the submittal of timely, quality-driven client deliverables. Dan effectively collaborates across the company to align and advance policies and procedures throughout the organization.

Dan joined ESI as Senior Vice President of Operations after a career spanning more than 35 years which began as a Land Surveyor and Civil Designer in several well-known engineering firms, continued as a Field Manager on large remediation projects for regulatory clients such as USACOE for Middlesex Sampling Plant, and as a Senior Project Manager acting as a consultant for ExxonMobil, ConEdison, PSE&G, Central Hudson Gas and Electric, Orange and Rockland Utilities, large publicly funded remediation sites under NJDEP oversight and transmission upgrade projects for utility clients in New York State. In these roles, Dan spearheaded the design and development of concept plans, developed proposals and maintained schedule, scope and budgets, managed oversight of field work activities and sub-contractors resulting in client deliverables. Dan refined these processes throughout his career. The same elements of this overall client approach are practiced throughout the company today.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology while still pursuing his career as a land surveyor and civil designer. A financial market crash and some coincidental timing led Dan to a career in the field of geology and environmental consulting. He hasn’t looked back since. He resides in New Jersey with his wife and raised two sons.

Dan was raised on the family farm which dates back to the 1840s and learned the value of hard work and long days. Dan continues to work the family farm when he is not at ESI and can be found working cattle. He also makes time to satisfy his flyfishing obsession with other family members across the country and abroad. He also enjoys collecting and restoring vintage wristwatches and collecting vintage geological maps and books.
